On the heels of the release of the blockbuster Barbie movie, actor and "Mattel spokesperson" Daryl Hannah made a stunning announcement: the toy company would stop using plastic and instead planned to make all future Barbie dolls from biodegradable mushrooms! The news was applauded by the public—but not by Mattel, who was forced to deny that this good idea was happening, despite an elaborate campaign that featured kids playing with the inaugural EcoWarrior Barbies. The infamous Barbie Liberation Organization emerged from 30 years of dormancy to claim responsibility for the ruse.
